Rupert Hoogewerf is a British businessman and founder of the Hurun Report, which is considered to be one of the leading authorities on China's wealthiest individuals. He is also known as "Hurun" which is derived from the name of a mythical creature that symbolizes good fortune in Chinese culture. Prior to founding Hurun Report, Hoogewerf worked as a research analyst for a number of companies, including Arthur Andersen and the Economist Intelligence Unit. He is a frequent commentator on the Chinese economy and has appeared on various media outlets including BBC, CNN and Bloomberg. Hoogewerf was born in the UK and currently resides in Shanghai, China.
